Exploring Global Challenges through Biological Sciences

During my BSc in Biological Sciences at Westminster University, I cultivated a multidisciplinary foundation by studying modules such as Biotechnology, Advanced Molecular Biology, Cancer Biology, and Designing a Sustainable World. These subjects equipped me with a versatile skill set and the ability to think critically across diverse areas like health, sustainability, and industry.
As a group leader for numerous projects, I tackled real-world challenges, including our investigation into global food yield changes. Our research revealed a decline in yields driven by climate change, sparking my deep interest in food security. This issue highlighted how food shortages can escalate global political instability, including conflicts and wars. Inspired by this, I spearheaded efforts to explore vertical farming solutions in London, promoting climate-resilient urban agriculture as a way to address food challenges sustainably.
My undergraduate research project further demonstrated my passion for sustainability, focusing on biodegradable biopolymers to reduce the environmental impact of plastics. This research spanned applications in health, agriculture, and industry, showcasing the potential of innovative materials to transform multiple sectors.
Through these experiences, I developed a holistic perspective and the ability to approach complex global issues with innovative thinking, combining scientific insight with a passion for practical solutions.
