Pursuing an MSc at UCL was a pivotal step in my academic and professional journey. This program offered me the opportunity to explore environmental sciences at a deeper level, focusing on some of the most pressing challenges facing our planet today. From understanding the complexities of ecosystems to analysing the impacts of global change, my time at UCL shaped the way I think about sustainability and innovation.
One of the highlights of my MSc experience was my master’s research project, conducted at the prestigious Natural History Museum. This project focused on wheat food security, a topic that is critical for addressing global challenges in agriculture and sustainability. Wheat is a staple crop for billions of people, and ensuring its resilience in the face of climate change and environmental pressures is more important than ever. My research delved into how biodiversity within wheat species can contribute to developing more resilient crops, ultimately aiming to support food security on a global scale.
The combination of UCL’s interdisciplinary curriculum and the hands-on research opportunities at the Natural History Museum provided me with invaluable skills in data analysis, environmental research, and sustainable problem-solving. It also strengthened my resolve to tackle global challenges through innovative approaches, bridging the gap between science and practical solutions.
This experience set the stage for my current PhD research at Cambridge, where I continue to explore how technology and data science can transform sustainability in agriculture. The journey has been both inspiring and humbling, and I’m excited to apply the lessons I’ve learned to make a meaningful impact on the world.
